Our History

Rodger & Liz Sieh met while attending Southern California College (now Vanguard University), an Assemblies of God Bible College. The Siehs were married in 1976 and in 1977, Rodger & Liz drove to Reinbeck, IA from Costa Mesa, CA. In Reinbeck, the Siehs set roots as a family, but were unaware that God had called them to lay the foundation of what is now New Life Assembly of God. Soon after arriving to Reinbeck, Rodger found work at Pioneer Hi-Bred as an electrician. Liz stayed home with their son, Ryan.

Rodger and Liz found a church home at Open Bible Church in Waterloo, IA and were faithful attenders there for several years. During their time at Open Bible, they began to attend Bible studies at different homes of fellow church members. Before long, several of those in attendance at the Bible study were making the trip to Waterloo from Reinbeck. The Bible study continued to grow and the location changed to Reinbeck. Rodger Sieh became the leader of the "new" Bible Study and in 1984 a church was planted. Rodger Sieh became the pastor shortly thereafter.

For the first couple of years, the church met at the Reinbeck Memorial Building. In 1985, the church purchased a building on the east side of Reinbeck. The church building has increased in size as membership rose.

Pastor Rodger and Liz raised all four of their children at New Life and three of them and their families have moved home to Reinbeck and call New Life there church home once again. Their oldest son is in ministry at a church in Kansas City, MO.

In March 2011, Pastor Rodger retired from New Life Assembly of God after spending nearly 27 years as its pastor. Rodger and Liz continue to live in their home just east of Reinbeck and love spending their time with their four kids, 10 grandchildren (two more coming this summer) and their friends.

Rodger and Liz affected so many lives and left an amazing foundation at New Life to build upon.

In April of 2011, Rob Saak was named the new pastor at New Life. Please see the Staff tab for more information about our Pastor and his family.
